It's My Opinion by Jim Carroll
Please understand that I am not a writer nor do I claim to be. These are only words from the heart of one who is tired of walking on egg shells for those who do not care. October 8th, 2008 CITIZENS OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Your exactly where you want to be today. When I make that statement to people , they look at me as though I’ve lost my mind. When we as a nation become so complaisant that we no longer care what takes place with our own finances, we are exactly where we want to be. We no longer hold our elected officials accountable, they no longer hear our voices and we do nothing as though everything will work itself out. WRONG WRONG WRONG! As I see myself becoming more angry every day over the economics of this nation I wonder why I haven’t shared the truth with others. Because I haven’t wanted to upset or anger anyone, trying to be politically correct. Just about five years ago my
wife and I were helping in a food distribution program when one night a young man about 25 years old came in for some assistance.
Rodney was his name. As I counseled with Rodney about what was going on in his life, we began to talk about a four letter
word (WORK). Rodney began to explain to me that he was on SSI and was not able to work. I said to Rodney, it looks to me like
your in pretty good shape, so what could be the problem about not being able to work. Rodney explained that working really
made him nervous and he didn’t need the pressure. Now understand that Rodney is not only on SSI, food stamps and is
receiving housing assistance. I was floored! I then realized I was the biggest part of the problem. Trying not to harm this
young man and also trying to be politically correct, all I could say is that we will keep you in prayer. I should have jumped
from my chair and shouted to him the truth,(not working should make you nervous). If we as a nation are going to turn this country around we must start telling the truth. For those who subsidize their income off of government programs, (food stamps)(AFDC)(SSI)(WIC)(MEDICADE), get off your lazy butts and get as many jobs as it takes to provide for your family and allow the rest of us provide for ours. As our countries economy crumbles, do not lay blame to those whom you allowed to get us here. Take responsibility for what you have not done. Let your voice be heard until someone listens, stand fast to the task at hand, draw the line in the sand and proclaim that you have had enough.. Federal Government hear my voice, heed my words, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! October 26th, 2008 Part Two 84 BILLION DOLLAR AIG BAILOUT? By Jim Carroll
The If you take 84 Billion dollars and divide it equally between all the adults 18 years and older, they would receive approximately 438 Million dollars apiece. After allowing for taxes they would have approximately 219 Million dollars. It seems to me that everyone would be able to pay off their mortgage, all their credit cards, car payments and anything else they owe. Generating millions of dollars in tax revenue to help with government programs. Knowing that all people will not be responsible and do the right thing, as this is the nature of mankind. It stills seems the is this would have been done we would not have the Freddy Mac and Fanny Mae problem, if indeed that is the problem. Do you remember anyone asking you if they could get into your coin purse and bail-out AIG? No! They didn't ask. Once again they put you further into debt without any concern about how we as citizens felt. Why is it that we allow these things to take place and never say a word????????? It should be hard after reading this article because you just let the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT rob you out of 219 million dollars. Oh wait, they may be sending you another $600 tax insentive poverty check. That should make you feel better. |
